Freedom® Porous Tibial Baseplate

A 3D-printed cementless tibia, engineered for modern TKA.

Additively manufactured Ti6Al4V with a fully interconnected porous lattice, an anatomic asymmetric footprint, and a bone-preserving broach-only keel. Resulting in a complete cementless tibiofemoral solution within the Freedom® Knee platform.

Freedom® Porous Knee System

A modern cementless solution for the Freedom® Total Knee System.

The Freedom® Porous Tibial Baseplate features advanced 3D-printed porous technology engineered around efficiency and designed to optimize fixation. Paired with the porous CoCrMo femoral component, it gives surgeons a complete cementless tibiofemoral solution.

A Platform Built for Surgeons

Built for fixation. Built for efficiency.

The Freedom® Porous Tibial Baseplate is engineered around efficiency and designed to optimize fixation through an advanced 3D-printed porous structure. With the introduction of this baseplate, the Freedom® Total Knee System offers a cementless tibiofemoral solution — a modern, bone-preserving option for younger and more active patients.

Anatomic asymmetric geometry maximizes proximal tibial coverage, while a broach-only keel and controlled peripheral press-fit deliver immediate stability. The fully interconnected lattice does the long-term work, promoting osseointegration and durable biological fixation.

Key Features

Six design pillars working in unison.

From immediate press-fit stability to long-term cementless fixation.

3D-Printed Porous Lattice

Fully interconnected Ti6Al4V lattice with 61% porosity, 470 µm pore size, and 800 µm coating thickness — engineered to promote vascularized bone ingrowth and osseointegration.

Anatomic Asymmetric Design

Anatomic Left and Right configurations across 8 sizes (63–84 mm M/L) maximize proximal tibial coverage and engage cortical bone medially and posteromedially where load transfer is highest.

Bone-Preserving Broach-Only Keel

Three discrete keel geometries scale with baseplate size to maximize metaphyseal bone engagement — a one-step preparation that simplifies workflow and preserves bone.

Optimized Press-Fit Fixation

0.5 mm peripheral press-fit relative to the broach generates compressive engagement with cancellous bone, providing immediate implant stability while ingrowth develops.

OR-Efficient Workflow

Compatible with the Maxx QRS® single-tray instrument platform. Magnetic quick-connect broach handle and minimal fixation features streamline OR workflow for ASC and outpatient TKA.

Complete Cementless System

Paired with a CR porous CoCrMo femoral component (60% porosity, 280 µm pore, 1,000 µm coating), the system delivers a unified cementless tibiofemoral construct.

Design at a Glance

Anatomic geometry, intentional fixation.

  • A. Medial-lateral width. Eight asymmetric sizes from 63–84 mm M/L deliver maximized cortical rim coverage without compromising rotational alignment.
  • B. Anterior-posterior depth. Anatomic A/P scales from 46–62 mm; left and right configurations engage cortical bone medially and posteromedially where loads are highest.
  • C. Porous lattice. Fully interconnected, additively manufactured Ti6Al4V structure — 61% porosity, 470 µm pores, 800 µm coating — in the published sweet spot for vascularized bone ingrowth.
  • D. Broach-only keel & pegs. Three scaling keel geometries with a 0.5 mm peripheral press-fit drive primary stability; two pegs supplement rotational fixation during early healing.

“With the introduction of our Porous Tibial Baseplate, we are expanding the capabilities of the Freedom® Total Knee System to address the needs of surgeons and their patients. This latest innovation reflects our commitment to advancing cementless knee solutions.”
