Libertas Acetabular Cup is Designed for Optimal Fixation
The cup is designed to be implanted into the acetabulum with a tight fit just below the equator of the shell. The shell is oversized by 1.3 mm in relation to the reamed bone cavity. Preoperative templating using X-rays and CT scans in the case of unusual conditions in the acetabular roof further helps plan the surgery for optimal fit and fixation.
The Libertas Acetabular Cup features:
- Mechanical Stability – Press Fit Philosophy, Design Geometry, and Optional Screw Fixation
- Biological Stability – Ti-Growth® Coating
- Bone Conservation – 16 Shell sizes for better fit with matched odd and even sized acetabular reamers
- Congruent Stress Transfer – Overall Design Geometry/corresponding modular shells with CoCr or Biolox® delta head choices (with offset options)
Advanced Materials and Coatings
The Libertas Acetabular Cup shell is manufactured in Titanium alloy (Ti6Al4V-ELI) with an external Ti-Growth® Titanium plasma spray coating. The exterior shell surface has been designed to pre-stress the bone in the oversized area specifically to prevent unwanted preferential apical loading. The shell accepts highly cross-linked ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene liners, which can accommodate a range of Biolox® Delta Ceramic or cobalt chrome heads of different sizes, lengths, and offsets.
